So the expected storm arrives on Sunday 19th January.
Javea’s Mayor says the next day
WEATHER PROBLEMS
We have a very complicated situation in Xàbia and many roads are affected and closed to traffic.
The Local Police recommend you NOT TO LEAVE home if it is not strictly necessary and above all DO NOT APPROACH DANGER AREAS out of curiosity as this will hinder the clearing up work.
In addition to the danger of being swept away by currents, there are countless objects that are airborne due to wind gusts.
As already reported, the flooding of the river Gorgos has caused overflowing on the roads of the Pont del Llavador and Barranc de Lluca. The police may have to close the Av del Pla.
The Red Cross has set up a temporary shelter in the multipurpose room in case anyone needs it.
The road is closed to the traffic along Av Mediterráneo (Primer Montañar), and access to the port from Jaume I, Genoa, Augusta and Ultramar avenues
If you have any adverse issues at home, please phone 112.
This was on El Pais on 20th with some photos of Javea – scrool through and ignore the little adverts. Number 10 gives you an idea of the waves while 4 and 16 is one of our favourite restaurants in the Port which I walked past on Sunday morning and this was Monday
Our Terrace
Some damage including that damn arch. Over for the second time so it’s on it’s way to Katherine and Don’s to go in the ground
Port
So we strolled down to the sea but were stopped by the police and other officials from going along the front. So no photos but the shops and restaurants have been flooded
– you can get an idea from Mark Petrie’s office – he put these on Facebook. We were sitting in this office on the Thursday, This happened Sunday
and here some photos of the Arenal which was also badly hit
and some videos
and another
A good video put on Facebook
