CHESTER 1995 – 8th JULY 2011
Dear All
Sadly, Chester passed away this morning. At 16 he’d had a great life, first in Surrey and then the last ten years here in Spain. He loved visitors coming to the house and that is why we are writing to you all as he had so many friends. He’s buried at the top of our land on Montgo with views of some 30 kilometres over the hills towards Valencia. A place which gets the sun all afternoon and also the sunsets. A great character and loving friend who will be very much missed.
Love
Tony and Jo

That’s a lovely photo – did David take it?
He’ll be so excited to see Fluff, he’ll be doing his funny crab walk.
Hope you’re ok.
Lots of love and hugs,
Diana

Hi Mum and Tony
Hope your ok, I know it’s so hard, he was a special little guy. I have lovely lovely memories of him. I know it doesn’t help right now but he did have the best life a dogy could have, full of love, attention, great grub, how many dogs get risotto? and the most fabulous walks and scenery. He was very happy. I’ll be thinking of him.
Lots of love and sympathy to you both,
David x

Dear Jo/Tony
So, so sorry to hear your sad news. We’ve known Chester to be a real character and fiercely loyal. he will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
You both and Fluff gave him a great life for which he repaid with loyalty and trust.
You are in our thoughts.

Hi Jo and Tony,
I’m sorry to hear your news. It doesn’t matter how much you anticipate it happening, it is still a heartbreaking and sad event. Clearly Chester had the best life any dog could wish for.
To call him a dog hardly seems to do him justice, though inasmuch as he had four legs, a tail, and barked, I admit he was, to all outward appearances. But to those who knew him well, he was a perfect gentleman.

Thanks for letting us know.

Dear Tony & Jo
So, so sorry to hear about Chester but, as you said, he had a great life with masses of love from you and his many fans. Its so strange but this morning early, Geoff rang you and we had no reply, so I said “Tony might be playing golf” and Geoff said “or there might be a problem with Chester”, so obviously Geoff is on your radar.
He couldn’t have had more loving owners, so just remember all the lovely times you had together.
Lots of love.
Val & Geoff.
Dear Jo and Tony So sorry about Chester. I have only just opened your mail and Peterhas already left to go to boule but I know he will be sorry and miss “bumping into” Chester on his night time walk.
Love from Penny and Peter
Oh Jo, Tony, we are so sorry. He certainly was a character and thought of with great affection. We know you will both miss him terribly, as too, of course , will your mum, Jo. The house will miss his presence – but maybe he´ll keep half an eye on you all from his lofty, deserved place in the sun. Sue x My meetings with Chester were brief but memorable – he was that sortof a dog, with an almost constant smile on his face.

Dear Tony and Jo
Angie and I were sorry to get your email that Chester had died. A much-loved dog, as you say, and a good age to live to. Having seen your home we can picture where Chester is buried with your spectacular views and (who knows) perhaps he’s still enjoying them from somewhere else.
Love from us both
Rog (and Angie)

Dear Jo and Tony,
So very saddened to hear the news. Glad we had a final chance to see him on Tuesday and will remember him walking up our drive towards Hill House.

Very sad, but as you said he had a very good and long life.
They always leave a large gap. You will miss the walks and will see him around many corners.
He will always be there.
Lots of love

Hi Jo and Tony,

So sorry to hear this news. He was a very special dog indeed. We are not especially doggie people but Chester was quite different, in a league of his own. He was always referred to as ‘Gentleman Chester’ because he had such good manners. We know you will miss him dreadfully and nothing can take his place but the consolation is that you had him for a while.
Thinking of you.

Sorry to hear about Chester. It must have been a tough day for you and I am sure the house feels a bit empty now. Thinking of you both.

Dear Jo and Tony
We are so sorry to hear of Chester’s passing away. It sounds as if he is now in a special place both physically and in your hearts.
As you say, he was a real character and we shall miss his reassuring bark when we come to the house.
See you soon.
Best wishes

Hi Dad, sorry to hear about Chester, he really did have a great life with you guys and I’m sure he will leave a large gap in your day to day life for a while. But it is all about quality of life and as you said he did manage to hold on to that for as long as he could. I’m sure things will be a bit miserable for a while but then it’ll all be about lovely memories of both his time with you and Fluff.
Thinking of you Don

Just picked up your ansaphone message and just wanted to say that the so sad news of dear Chester prompted me to send a ‘real’ message via the Royal Mail rather than the impersonal nature that I feel e-mails portray. Now I’m thinking that you are surprised not to have heard from us but this might explain matters, such a clumsy way of putting things but you know how much he meant to us and so don’t think your message didn’t touch us. You’ve chosen a very special place for him to lay and no creature could have had a better life.
Much love
Jeanne & Nicholas
