John Henderson (1818- 1885)
John married Eve Harvey on 3rd July 1838. He married at St Andrews in Newcastle and his marriage certificate and a photo of the church are available.
As you can see they had 8 children, the 7th being my ancestor, John Harvey Henderson.
We have available all the censuses from 1841 to 1881 and we can see John, like his ancestors, didn’t move out of Northumberland. In 1841 and 1851 he was in Bedlington and in 1861 until his death he live 14 miles away in Benwell.
You can note the children gradually leaving home from the censuses, but in the 1881 census, Margaret a 30 year old spinster and school mistress, was the only one living with her father. Eve had died in 1880
In all the censuses he was an engine wright.
John died, aged 67, on 27th May 1885 and his death certificate is available.
