The school was named after Mary Bankes an interesting woman who led a three-year siege during the Civil War
This was quite a walk for me and of course, in those days you didn’t have a car dropping you off, but we thought nothing of it then.
In my old paperwork, I scanned some old stuff before I binned it all and this is attached – old report cards and a photo of me which was in the local newspaper in about 1950
